our president
Under the leadership of our former President, Pramada Shah, Animal Nepal established a strong foundation—responding to urgent cases of cruelty, working with communities and authorities, and advocating for better treatment of dogs, working equines, wildlife, and animals used in entertainment and research. From the streets of Lalitpur to brick kilns, laboratories, and public policy spaces, we have consistently challenged practices that cause unnecessary suffering and worked to create more humane alternatives.
Today, Animal Nepal continues this legacy while expanding its focus to reflect Nepal’s changing realities. Alongside our long-standing programs for stray dogs and working equines, we are increasingly addressing the impacts of industrial farming, live animal transport, and emerging challenges such as human–wildlife conflict, habitat loss, and environmental degradation.
A key priority across all our work is strengthening legal protection for animals in Nepal, including advocacy for a comprehensive Animal Welfare Act that ensures clear responsibilities, enforcement mechanisms, and meaningful safeguards for all animals.
Animal Nepal remains committed to building lasting change—through practical action on the ground, collaboration with stakeholders, and sustained advocacy for a more compassionate and accountable system of animal protection across the country.
